How Direct Hire works

Permanent roles, your hiring decision

WDJ supports recruiting for permanent positions. You make the hiring decision, and the person you hire is employed directly by your organization.

Direct Hire is separate from temporary staffing and payroll arrangements. It has its own process, fee basis and written terms.

What we define with you first

Role scope
Responsibilities, reporting line and the skills and experience the role requires.
Compensation expectations
The planned base salary range and the other parts of the offer.
Location and work arrangement
Where the person will work and any on-site, hybrid or remote expectations.
Team context
Who the person will work with and what the team needs from the role.
Interview process
Who takes part in interviews and how feedback will be shared.

Direct Hire and Staffing Solutions can be discussed together, but each is scoped and agreed separately.

Direct Hire questions

What is the Direct Hire fee based on?
The indicative placement fee is based on the candidate’s first-year annualized base salary. It is not based on total compensation, such as bonuses or benefits, or on the salary for the months remaining in the hiring year. The final fee is agreed in writing after consultation.
Is there a guarantee period?
Any guarantee period, replacement arrangement, refund provision and eligibility conditions must be stated in the signed agreement. No standard guarantee is promised on this website.
Are background checks included?
Screening needs vary by role. The agreement identifies the screening scope, responsibilities and any separate third-party costs.
When is the fee payable?
The event that triggers the fee and the payment terms are set out in the written agreement before the search begins.
Is Direct Hire the same as Staffing Solutions?
No. With Direct Hire, you make the hiring decision and employ the person directly in a permanent role. Staffing Solutions covers workforce arrangements for defined roles, shifts and periods. The two are different service models with separate terms, and either can be discussed during a consultation.
